The BE:GIN Health Behaviors Study

The Behavior Engagement: Goals and Initiation of New (BE:GIN) Health Behavior study aims to examine predictors at multiple levels of the social-ecological framework to better understand how individuals with a cardiovascular condition make and act upon (or initiate) their health behavior goals in a one-month time-period. Findings will be used to better understand processes of behavior engagement in the context of cardiovascular disease and inform future intervention development.

The NA-THR Study

The Needs Assessment for Heart Transplant Recipients (NA-THR) Study is currently in development with expected start date in Fall 2026. The proposed project will take a social-ecological approach to explore the psychosocial needs of heart transplant recipients by surveying heart transplant recipients, their care providers, and their informal caregivers. A secondary objective will be to identify healthy lifestyle behaviors heart transplant recipients both (a) currently engage in, and (b) would like to engage in. A tertiary and exploratory objective will be to evaluate the needs of the care providers and care givers. This research study will help to identify areas for psychosocial and behavioral intervention to improve quality of life for heart transplant recipients.

The METRIC Study - Program Evaluation

The Montefiore Einstein Transplant Recovery and Integrated Care Clinic (METRIC) Study examines how integrated care impacts outcomes for liver transplant recipients. Our lab is spearheading the program evaluation component of this larger study. Specifically, we are conducting a qualitative analysis to solicit patient's feedback and experiences in the program. We are also interested in better understanding the role of social support in the adjustment to life post-transplant. Findings will help inform the proceedings of the METRIC clinic.
